Paul Johnson’s (FF Assets) update on some of the great projects that are just about to commence across the Park and may have an impact upon us all.
Pineridge West
This is now under way with upgraded infrastructure for the new Eco mobiles being laid. As the site previously held a cluster of caravans, the old infrastructure was beyond repair and needed completely replacing with new sewage, water, electrical and IT
services.
This will be finished quite soon which will leave the land prepared to received the mobiles. Three companies are currently considering our drawings and working out prices, which once we have agreed a contractor, could start building immediately with a completion time of about sixteen – twenty weeks
New Education Building
We will be replacing our old faithful Yurt with an exciting new education building. Construction will start during week one of December and should be finished, weather permitting, in about six weeks.
However, there is much work to be carried out prior to their arrival with our Maintenance team starting on 4th November to dismantle the Yurt for storage and then later reuse in Cullern as a seasonal meeting/teaching space. (100% recycling of a building can’t be bad) Following this, we will be clearing the site, laying in new infrastructure and foundations ready to receive the new log building which will be light, bright, warm and best of all a lot more sound proofed than the Yurt.
The exterior roof will be a mock tile similar to the roof on Phoenix, the walls will be treated with an Oak based eco paint and the interior will be wood. (we can always change this later if it feels too ‘woody’); and we will be installing ramps both back and front to ensure access for all. A fully accessible toilet facility will also be included in the build as will Brail signage.
We are also seeking funds to support the works of the gardens team as they consider landscaping all around this area.
We will be fencing off the area around the site whilst we undertake the works and I do ask that everyone appreciate these fences are to keep people safe by excluding them from what could be hazards.
Duneland
As part of our continuing support for the development we will be providing sewer access for the development into our main piping system, which runs from outside the Visitor Centre and down to the main entrance. However, in order for the connection to be made will require a new sewer pipe to be laid from the Duneland site down the centre of the runway to the Visitor Centre. Although we will do everything to minimise the impact of the works, we will need to close the runway for anything up to three/four weeks.
Although this may sound like a major problem, by careful planning and sensitive working we can ensure that it’s not. Currently Paul Randell, Tom Clarke and I are considering alternative parking, essential access, traffic flows and business deliveries and as the proposals develop and we have dates confirmed we will be posting all this information well in advance in the Bridge, online and directly via email.
The entire working site will be fenced off to protect us all as in addition to the plant equipment moving around some of the ditches will be over two meters deep.
There is not much more I can say on this at the moment as it’s still a work in progress but I do ask that we all continue to offer this wonderful development as much support as we can as we know it will all be worth it in the end.
I hope this brief update helps provide a bit of information and if you would like to know more about any of the assets projects, I’m in the CC for coffee almost every morning and I love to chat.
Blessings to us all for being such fantastic people!
